The Gympie FLC provides holistic learning experiences that address the social needs of students (Years 7-12), and promotes their emotional, physical, spiritual and academic development. The role of the team is to establish a close relationship to the young person, to monitor their progress, to advocate on their behalf, to provide advice, direction and support during difficult personal issues, and overall to support the young person to achieve their stated personal and educational goals. Learning experiences address curriculum areas of literacy, numeracy, study of society and environment, vocational training, information technology, music and technology, outdoor education, Indigenous education, relational and spiritual education and science.

This program is a partnership program with Frankston Mornington Peninsula Local Learning & Employment Network Inc. (FMPLLEN) as the lead agency and is funded through the Communities for Children program. The mission of FMPLLEN is to improve education, training and employment outcomes for vulnerable and at risk youth in the Frankston Mornington Peninsula Region. The program has the children in the classroom and supported by the Family Support Worker and the Early Childhood Educator.

The Hemmant Flexible Learning Centre (HFLC) has been established in consultation with the local community to support young people disengaged from mainstream schooling. Typically young people attending are high school aged, 13-17 yrs. The concept of “common ground” applies to all who choose to participate in a EREAFSN FLC. Adults and young people alike commit to participate in a learning environment that is democratic, relational and operates through key principles.
