The Hemmant Flexible Learning Centre (HFLC) has been established in consultation with the local community to support young people disengaged from mainstream schooling. Typically young people attending are high school aged, 13-17 yrs. The concept of “common ground” applies to all who choose to participate in a EREAFSN FLC. Ipswich Flexible Learning Centre (IFLC) is an educational space that aims to respond to and support the needs of young people who experience complexities in their lives to continue their journey in education. IFLC is a secondary school that caters for young people in years 7 to 12 from Ipswich and surrounding areas. Learning groups are small with a focus on literacy and numeracy skills embedded in young person directed and negotiated curriculum. It provides numerous educational opportunities, those from the Australian curriculum and Cert qualifications in the arts industry. The school offers life and social skills through adventure based learning and school camps.
