YPEP is an inclusive education program that engages and retains pregnant and parenting students to obtain a Year 12 qualification, a Certificate 2 industry qualification and pathways plan to smoothly transition to further education, training or employment.
YPEP Learning Hubs are founded on a collaborative partnership between key stakeholders in the SE Region to offer an evolving integrated model of secondary education, early childhood development, parenting and pastoral care for young parents that includes:
VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching) Registered educators
Infants in the classroom and/or accessible childcare
Induction that includes Health & Wellbeing Plan, Career Pathways Plan, Individual Learning Plan
Adaptable, co designed curriculum
Literacy that encourages parents to bring language into everyday – developed by Monash University and embedded into VCAL curriculum
Parenting support including Mother Goose, local parenting programs, Maternal Child Health and others
Health and Well-being services such as self-care, sexual health, respectful relationships and others
Guided incursions on legal, financial, housing, welfare payments and others
Guided excursions to parks, gardens, library, local activities and others
Adult learning environment
Respectful and inclusive
Accessible via public transport
Rolling entry and exitThere are currently two sites – Hallam Senior College & Foundation Learning Centre – further sites are in development for Cranbourne and Pakenham.
